The Seward Sports Association is a community-based program that promotes sports and recreational opportunities for local adult residents. The SSA was awarded a $720 grant to expand its web-based infrastructure. Before the grant, SSA maintained a Facebook site that provided information to the community. But through this grant, the organization was able to develop a website where users could find tournament information, register and pay for leagues, and advertise their sponsors.
According to Erik Slater, the new website (Seward Sports Association Website) has really helped streamline the registration system and payment over the internet.
Typically, the SSA hosts adult softball and corn hole leagues. According to Erik, they were able to host one corn hole league and put the new website to the test for registration and payment, which worked “amazingly.” Unfortunately, COVID got in the way of hosting the summer softball and the autumn corn hole leagues. Once the pandemic has passed, the sports leagues will be up and running again.
The $720 grant was funded through the Seward Community Foundation Unrestricted Fund. To learn about grants available through Seward Community Foundation, please visit https://sewardcf.org/grants/
