Grant Highlight: Seward Nordic Ski Club Catching Up With the Rest of the World

The Seward Nordic Ski Club (SNSC) received a $1,000 grant through the Seward Community Foundation’s ongoing mini-grant process. SNSC is made up of cross-country skiers from all walks of life and they welcome new members and visitors. The Eastern Kenai Peninsula, and the Seward area in particular, is rich with trails that suit all skill levels and styles from beginner to advanced and are groomed for backcountry, skate and classical.

SNSC is dedicated to promoting and supporting Nordic and backcountry skiing for all ages, developing and maintaining a network of groomed trails, and sponsoring community ski activities and educational opportunities. To achieve this mission it is important for SNSC to have an accurate and timely method for supplying information to the community. The club used this grant from the Seward Community Foundation to update their website.

The new web site is a big improvement over the old one. People now have access to current winter trail conditions and can share their own observed conditions. A calendar of events is available as well as maps of local trails. All this makes it easier for folks to get out and enjoy Nordic and backcountry skiing. Check out the new site at www.sewardnordicskiclub.org .

Funding for this grant came from the Seward Community Foundation Unrestricted Fund.
